Listeq introuduces BoxedVDI.

Listeq has just released its first beta of its product BoxedVDI. BoxVDI is an extension running on top of a Oracles Virtualbox OSE to create a VDI Multiseat solution running on DisplayLink embedded ZeroClient adapters.

BoxedVDI is the first Windows7 based Multiseat solution which uses Virtual Machine technology and standard DisplayLink embedded Zero Client hardware from vendors like Plugable, HP, Wyse, Viewsonic, Targus and Atrust.

BoxedVDI is developed for the educational market to facilitate low cost/low energy OS independent computer Desktops. Instead of using a Multi-User OS to run multiple Terminal Session, BoxedVDI runs native single-user Virtual Machines for every Desktop. These virtual machines can all have there own OS (all OS which are supported by VirtualBox).

The product is completely software based and runs on Windows 7 32/64 bit.

A basic setup for 4-6 Desktops will need 4-6 ZeroClient Adapters, a Host computer with Intel i5-7 processor, around 8 Gbyte of memory and Windows 7 64 bit Professional.

BoxedVDI runs on top of a sligthly modified version of VirtualBox (at moment 4.1.12) , but completely supports all functionalitty of VirtualBox Virtual Machines.
